PART B: SECTION 6. GENDER

a. Government should enact a national gender communication policy.
b. Government should ensure that the new document which emerges from the on-going review of the national mass communication policy is gender sensitive.
c. Gender-sensitive policies must be part of the operational framework of community radio stations.
d. Community radio stations must adopt codes which promote affirmative action towards a greater participation of women.
e. There should be equitable balance in gender representation in the personnel of community radio station i.e. women must have equal access to all levels of employment and capacity building opportunities in community radio.
f. There must be gender balance in programme selection, production and content.
g. There should be a deliberate and consistent projection of positive images of women on community radio. All CR programmes must be gender sensitive.
h. Women should feature in male-dominated areas of professional work as commentators, sports analysis, etc.
